Pipe and duct network calculation

Aurora Engineering produces the calculation basis of building services: heat load to EN 12831, cooling load to VDI 2078, pipe network calculation for heating, cooling and potable water to DIN 1988-300, drainage to DIN 1986-100 and duct network calculation for ventilation systems, as a stand-alone service or as part of the MEP design.

Every system is only as good as its calculation. Correctly sized networks save pump and fan energy, avoid noise and secure hygiene and comfort. Oversized systems cost money in construction and operation.

Scope of services

What we calculate

  • Heating and cooling load

Room-by-room heat load to EN 12831 and cooling load to VDI 2078 as the basis for generators, networks and emitters.

  • Heating and cooling pipe networks

Hydraulic calculation, pump sizing, hydraulic balancing method B, pre-setting values.

  • Potable water and drainage

Potable water networks to DIN 1988-300, hot water and circulation to DVGW W 553, drainage to DIN 1986-100.

  • Ventilation duct networks

Aerodynamic calculation, pressure losses, fan sizing, acoustic calculation to VDI 2081.

  • Energy and economics

Energy demand to DIN V 18599, life-cycle costs to VDI 2067, option comparison.

  • Recalculation of existing systems

Checking existing installations, verifying reserves, basis for conversion and extension.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about calculations

Can I commission the calculation only?

Yes. Heat load, cooling load, pipe or duct network calculations are also available as stand-alone services for other design offices or contractors.

Which software do you use?

Linear for calculation and model, supplemented by manufacturer tools for generators and components. Results are delivered as verifiable reports.

How quickly is a result available?

It depends on the scope. A heat load calculation for an office building is usually possible within a few days once the basis is complete.

Need a calculation or verification?

Send us the basis: we will tell you scope and delivery date.
